A Nice Surprise

I got an email from a new supporter who told me about an article she read in this month’s Creating Keepsake Magazine. Well I hadn’t read my subscription yet as I hadn’t had time so I was wondering if maybe she confused CFS with another organization or something and ran down to my scraproom to get my issue. Much to my surprise right there on page 44 was a nice paragraph regarding CFS! For those of you that don’t get the magazine I’ve scanned it for you to see. (you can click on it to make it larger)

About this Blog

Cards for Soldiers was started in January 2006 by a group of friends and scrapbookers on a scrapbooking messageboard to support our troops deployed to the Middle East. Now a one woman owned Non-Profit Corporation the mission is to send handmade, blank cards to deployed units for the soldiers to use to write to family and friends. It's been a big hit with the soldiers! Please join me in my program to support the troops! Check out the details, schedule and address below. Card Specs

All cards should be 5.5"x4.25" size (cut an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of cardstock in half and then fold that half in half), as those are the cards that fit in the APO boxes we ship the best. PLEASE provide an envelope with your card (A2 - Invitation -4 3/8x 5/3/4). We have not been getting envelopes donated lately and this is a huge expense to purchase them. Please remember to leave the cards BLANK ON THE INSIDE, with a self-stick note from you (or your child) to the soldier if desired. You are also more than welcome to put your signature on the back of the card to let them know who made it. Another idea is to put an address label on the back of the card, many card makers do this and they have gotten nice notes this way!

Cards should not be too bulky as they need to fit inside the envelopes we provide. The most important requirement is NO GLITTER please!! Glitter falls off and can stick to the soldiers and make them shine at night when they are trying not to be seen! Ranger stickles is OK or if you seal your glitter with something so that if you were to rub really hard on the glitter and NOTHING comes off on your fingers, that too is OK.

DIMENSION is OK (buttons, brads, rhinestones, etc) but please make sure the card will fit through a postage meter. The soldiers don't have to pay for their postage the cards are metered so they can't be thicker than that. Thank you!

Dark cards MUST be lined with white on the inside. The soldiers don't have white pens on hand, keep this in mind please!

General Occasion cards are ALWAYS welcome with any of the rounds, including Birthday, Miss You, Thank You, etc.
